Belarusian-Russian exercise Union Shield 2023 will be held in Russia from 22 to 26 September, said the head of the department of international military cooperation - assistant minister of defense for international military cooperation Valery Revenko.
"Among the central events of operational and combat training is the joint operational exercise of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation Union Shield 2023, which will take place in Russia from September 22 to 26," Revenko said during a briefing for foreign defense attachés accredited to the Belarusian Defense Ministry. He was quoted in the telegraph channel of the Belarusian military authorities.
Revenko stressed that "an obvious fact is the significant deepening of cooperation with the Russian Federation in the interests of ensuring the defense capabilities of the Union State in the face of current challenges and threats." "Interaction between Belarus and Russia in the sphere of military security has always developed productively. At the moment the military alliance is an indispensable condition for further development of both states," he stated.
Revenko stated that close interaction with the Russian Federation at the strategic level will be continued this year as well. "More than 150 joint events of different orientation are planned," he said.
