The number of ethnic Armenians left in Nagorno-Karabakh may range from 50 to 1,000, UN Secretary-General's representative Stephane Dujarric said at a briefing.
"The UN team heard from representatives of local communities that 50-1,000 ethnic Armenians remained in Karabakh," he said.
He added that during the one-day visit to the region, during which the UN representatives visited Stepanakert, they did not find any signs of destruction of civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, cultural and religious infrastructures, although all shops were closed.
"Local residents or other persons did not present to the delegation evidence of violence against the civilian population as a result of the last ceasefire.
The UN delegation did not encounter damage to agricultural infrastructures or killed animals," he added.
More than 100,000 people were forcibly displace from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia since the Azerbaijan’s military aggression on September 19.
