Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, has criticized Armenia's decision to ratify the Rome Statute, calling it an ill-conceived and strategically incorrect decision that will primarily create problems for Armenia and its citizens. He expressed his views in his Telegram channel.
Volodin questioned the rationale behind the decision and suggested that those responsible for it should answer the question of "Why?" He emphasized that the development of relations between Russia and Armenia should be based on the choice of their respective peoples, and the ratification of the Rome Statute goes against this principle.
The Rome Statute is the treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is aimed at prosecuting individuals for international crimes, such as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
