The escalation in Israel is a clear example of the failure of the US policy in the Middle East. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani.
Putin noted that the meeting with al-Sudani takes place amid global crises.
"And the Ukrainian crisis continues and, unfortunately, we see a sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East. I believe many will agree with me that this is a clear example of the failure of the Middle East policy of the US, which was attempting to monopolize the settlement [of the issue]. But, unfortunately, it was not bothering to find compromises acceptable to both sides, but rather put forward its own ideas, and there was pressure on both sides on how to do it," noted the Russian president.
"Washington's actions did not take into account the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people. First of all, I mean the need to implement the decisions of the UN Security Council on the creation of an independent sovereign state of Palestine," Putin said.
