The Hungarian parliament did not have a quorum to vote on Sweden's NATO membership.
A total of 133 out of 199 MPs of the ruling party did not attend at the session.
There were only 51 lawmakers at the sessions’ hall, and 148 were absent.
The political party led by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said it expects a visit from Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson before ratifying Sweden's bid to join NATO.
"If this is an important issue for the Swedes, then it is obvious that the Prime Minister of Sweden will come to Budapest," the party announced.
